BEAUCAT Seven Bearing Cam Covers
Although you can use your original cam covers with the BEAUCAT cylinder head, we manufacture our own so that every pair of cam tower studs become visible to admiring eyes.
This tells onlookers that there is something unusual and interesting about your engine compartment.
One of the salient features of the BEAUCAT Cylinder Head is that it has seven, (instead of Jaguar’s four), cam bearings. These extra supports prevent the cams from deflecting under the spring load from each valve. Using
the extra cam studs also puts more even pressure on the covers to keep them from leaking as the originals do.
Contrary to common belief, when the cam covers leak, it is often not that the covers have deformed – rather – it is because the head has warped due to overheating. To check this, put a straight-edge along the surface where the leaking cam cover sits. That will reveal whether the head has warped.
We will Soon Be Offering Series II Cam Covers (1968 - 1971)
We are making this second generation of custom cam covers to update the look of an E-type’s engine compartment. They are backwards compatible with the Series I cam covers. They should be available by fall 2025. We will accept advance order placement from April 2025.
These will be finished in black gloss powder coat to replicate the original look and will come with Cometic gaskets and a new oil filler cap.
The BEAUCAT cam covers have all seven cam cap studs piercing through the top of the cover. This changes the appearance sufficient to inform that this engine is built to a higher standard than mere stock. However, should you prefer to use your original cam covers, we can configure the head to have short studs that stay under the cover for the three extra cam caps we have built into the cylinder head.
